Modern science merging with the world’s most ancient spiritual wisdom

Interesting times we live in. Science is slowly shifting gears away from a century-long deadlock in the materialistic mindset and its findings continue to coincide with the world’s oldest spiritual tradition.

Humanity owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to these ancient forest-dwelling sages of India, who appear to have cracked the riddle of human existence thousands of years before the time of Christ.

These sages, called Rishis, formed entire societies of enlightened beings that developed a scientific approach to understanding consciousness and the spiritual life leaving humanity a prehistoric wealth of profound spiritual wisdom and spiritual psychology that is entirely free of the superstitious presumptions and metaphysical theory often found in religion. They approached the whole matter from a scientific perspective and made great strides in keeping everything free of dogma.

Whereas the western mindset and inclination was to create barriers between themselves and nature — to erect “city walls” and build coliseums — these sages went the other way with their life energies and decided to live at one with nature while renouncing the various pleasures of the world. They dwelled in the forest and devoted their lives to solving the most important questions a human can ask. Some of these questions have plagued people throughout history:

Who am I?

Why are we here?

What is the meaning of life?

What is the purpose of all this?

What is the creator like?

These answers have been hidden in plain sight for thousands of years. While these questions still haunt some people today, the answers aren’t all that far away. The latest breakthroughs in science and quantum physics are pointing the way to a major, unprecedented, shift in western science’s whole way of thinking which is almost certain to revolutionize every aspect of society.

No longer will science assert life is some random accident or some fluke or mathematical probability produced against astonishing odds. Because western society usually bases its perception of reality on the latest science, this materialistic paradigm has been the cause of widespread nihilism and spiritual poverty. It turns out the brain does not produce consciousness. And life is not some sort of proclivity of matter arising from matter. Consciousness is far more fundamental. Whereas materialism has always assumed that life comes from matter, that consciousness is a byproduct of chemical processes created by the brain, this new way of thinking says the opposite. In fact, life and more specifically conscious observers, are far more fundamental and cannot be taken out of the equation.

Nevertheless, the world’s leading minds have been stuck on the so-called “Hard Problem of Consciousness” for almost a century now.  The problem is they have never been able to “get behind” consciousness, explain where it comes from, or whether there exists any sort of reality outside of consciousness.

Einstein himself scoffed at the implications, remarking that he’d “like to think the moon is there, even if I’m not looking.” This says if there aren’t any conscious observers, there is nothing present to observe.

We are reminded of the old riddle: If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

This postulates that if there isn’t a conscious observer, there might not even be any woods for the tree to fall in. Conscious observers appear to be intimately linked to what they observe, and quantum particles “behave” in certain ways in the presence of an observer. This means consciousness is the foundation of the entire physical universe. The human brain and nervous system merely filters down this single source of consciousness down to a trickle to create the illusion of a separate self. The wise masters of the east have always proclaimed that the entire notion of being a separate individual (maintained by the ego) is false. Enlightenment is the realization that all of life is One and you are part of that One Life.

Austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger said it best when he said the famous phrase “The total number of minds in the universe is one. In fact, consciousness is a singularity phasing within all beings.”

And these findings remarkably coincide with what these ancient forest-dwelling sages of India discovered thousands of years ago. These spiritual scientists were incredibly wise because they did not waste any time trying to figure out existence going outward. They knew that would be impossible for a variety of reasons. Rather, they somehow knew that Self Knowledge was the answer. They coined the term “duality” to illustrate how each person has a subjective experience of being a separate self and an objective experience of being in a physical universe that is infinite. They realized that reality was in fact non-dual, meaning each and every human being’s experience of being a separate entity is an illusion created by the brain and perpetuated by the ego.

This also means enlightenment is the full realization that you are non-separate from everything that exists, and the entire notion of being a separated entity is a form of spiritual ignorance at the core.

All sorts of science support this, including research showing how the brain weaves together information gathered by the five senses and constantly compares it to prior data to perpetuate this whole notion of being a separate entity. Doing so is essential for the entity’s survival, and it enables the singular consciousness to experience itself subjectively in an infinitude of forms throughout the universe.

On a personal level, all of this information takes time to digest, but once it is assimilated it should engender a sense of awe. It has been known to excite the neophyte.

“The total number of minds in the universe is one,” science tells us. So this “one” appears to have been called “God.”

We have always known that God sustains all life, whether that life is good or evil. But this shows us God is non-separate from its creation.

And it gives the whole notion of “enlightenment” profound credibility.

Never before has there been so much scientific data explaining what “enlightenment” is, and how that state appears in brain imagery. Brain imagery shows the brain literally explodes with electrical activity when an experienced meditator enters these heightened states. The brain becomes fully coherent and they’ve never seen anything like it. Once famous scientists said it is akin to the brain “having an orgasm.”

Once a person fully abides in the realization of oneness, they exhibit a level of compassion and love that is tangible and palpable to all those around them. Their energy has been said to be very welcoming, inspiring and infectious. This is because the individual has destroyed all illusions of being separate from everything that exists.

Their identity is firmly established in the “non-physical light” that animates all life and they have zero attachments to the physical body or the pleasures enjoyed therein. The experience has been said to be more enjoyable than “all the pleasures in the world.”

Nevertheless, attaining enlightenment is no small task. It requires rising above good and evil, joy and sorrow, fear and desire, and bringing the mind to a single point for profoundly long periods of time. In order to attain it, spiritual adepts say one must “walk the razor’s edge to the ultimate reality” and seek God like a drowning man seeks air.

The word yoga is Sanskrit for union or yolk with the absolute. Neither it nor Buddhism are religions. Instead, they are sciences designed to take a spiritual aspirant from all walks of life from their normal level of consciousness to a level that literally blows one’s mind.

It has been compared to the most profound types of awakening. And once that person has awakened to their true nature, there’s literally no turning back.

Life becomes effortless and all sorts of miraculous things start to happen.
