None of us will make it out alive
Autumn Reflection
In a world that is in a constant state of change, wise are those who keep their eyes upon the timeless
By Brian Evans
Autumn is a great time to reflect on the impermeant nature of life ...
Appearances change with every season in life. In this way, autumn can serve as a gentle reminder for us to focus on what is most important. In life, there are many things that only improve with time and many things that will not.
Our physical beauty is not one of those things that improve. Our looks will not last in the long run on this journey. Youth is fleeting. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Everything is in a constant state of change and entropy is not on our side!
Therefore, do not prioritize your looks dear loved ones, at least not too much.
Of all things, they will eventually fall to the wayside on this journey.
Our sense of humor, however, will only get better.
Our intuition will grow and expand like a majestic cloak of wisdom.
Our ability to choose our battles will become fine-tuned to perfection.
And our capacity for stillness, for living in the moment, will blossom.
When this happens, we have truly found peace.
And when we find peace, our desire to live each and every moment to the fullest will transcend all other desires.
Because of this, our instinct for knowing what (and who) is worth our time, will grow and flourish like ivy on a castle wall.
Understanding this, don’t fret too much over your looks, dear loved ones. Look at the autumn leaves as they fall and try to realize how beautiful it can be to simply let go of things.
Our looks will certainly change as our youthfulness begins to fade, and the pursuit for beauty itself becomes one of much sadness and disappointment.
Rather, cultivate the characteristics and qualities that make you unique. Your authenticity will make you an invisible magnet that draws in other like-minded souls who will cherish you and dance with you in your own little orbit.
So remember to dance.
And don’t forget to laugh.
And try your best to have fun.
Life is a sacred gift...
None of us will make it out alive.
